At 7:30 this morning Middleton was hoisted out of the water, her natural element. There was a lot of activity to redo her nose, install a new AIS (Automatic Identification System), and a multitude of small repairs to (the loud speakers, the fastenings of the inside panels, the fastenings for the side solar panels and the net, protections for visible screw heads…..) Middleton’s forward cabin is a veritable sauna and it had all the workmen in a terrible sweat. Tomorrow she will go back into the water before she is fully loaded with all the material in her hold.
I will write again about moving and handling this type of boat in the harbor, which causes a lot of tension and is highly risky. It makes going out for training rather difficult.
